One of my favorite ways to begin a day at Castaway Cay is by waking up early to watch the ship dock. Trust me—it’s worth it! Whether you’re peeking through your stateroom porthole in your PJs or enjoying breakfast on deck, seeing the island come to life in the golden morning light is truly enchanting. For the best views, grab a seat on the starboard side and get ready for some serious vacation vibes.

Claim Your Perfect Beach Spot Early

Getting off the ship early really pays off—especially if you’re headed to the Family Beach or the adults-only Serenity Bay. Early risers snag the best lounge chairs, shaded umbrellas, and even those dreamy hammocks. Serenity Bay, in particular, is a peaceful oasis, and arriving early means you’ll have the beach (almost) to yourself. This is always my first stop when I arrive, and it is pure heaven! The sooner you disembark, the more time you have to soak up the sun and magic!

Pack Smart & Light for Island Time

There’s no need to lug around a giant beach bag. Disney provides towels on the island, so all you really need are the basics: sunscreen, sunglasses, your swimsuit and cover-up, a waterproof phone case, and maybe a good book. If you’re up for some added adventure, snorkel gear, float rentals, bikes, and more are available right on the island—no need to pack them ahead of time.

Extra Fun: Cabanas, Bikes & Kids’ Clubs

For families looking to elevate their experience, renting a private cabana is the ultimate luxury. With shaded seating, stocked fridges, private beach access, and even a cast member call button, it’s relaxation at its finest. Don’t want to splurge? No problem—Castaway Cay is packed with fun for every budget. Let the kids enjoy supervised fun at Scuttle’s Cove while you explore by bike or relax at Serenity Bay. And speaking of bikes—renting one is a great way to explore the island’s trails, observation tower, and scenic hidden spots.

Savor Island Flavors & Snap Picture-Perfect Memories

When lunchtime rolls around, Cookie’s BBQ hits the spot with delicious burgers, ribs, chicken, salads, and even soft-serve ice cream. Adults can head to Serenity Bay for a more upscale spread including grilled fish and steak. Before you head back to the ship, stop by Mount Rustmore for iconic photos with Disney characters and pick up exclusive Castaway Cay merchandise—it’s only available on the island and sells out fast!
