Everyone knows that Disney has great themed resorts at all of its park locations. But did you know there are Disney resorts that are nowhere near the theme parks? Disney also has resorts in Hilton Head, North Carolina, Vero Beach Florida, and my personal favorite, Ko Olina, Hawaii.
Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort
Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is located on the picturesque coast of South Carolina, only 5 hours from Walt Disney World Resort. This elegant, relaxing home-away-from-home—fashioned after a 1940s hunting and fishing lodge—combines local charm and simple pleasures with outdoor fun for the entire family. The resort features multi-roomed villas and many recreational activities, including 12 miles of unspoiled shoreline and tropical blue-green waters just steps away from your hotel door. This area is one of the densest sea turtle nesting spots in the western hemisphere, as well as a home to a variety of rare and endangered animal species. You can explore this beautiful environment on a family outing or take some time out for a romantic sunset stroll. You can even rent boogie boards, sailboats, jet skis, kayaks, or banana boats at the beach.
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
Relax on the warm sand and play in the sparkling blue waters of Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. Just 2 hours southeast of Walt Disney World Resort, this elegant old-fashioned hideaway is located on Florida’s scenic Atlantic Treasure Coast near the charming community of Vero Beach. Get away from it all in spacious lodgings that provide the comforts of home with an idyllic beach at your doorstep. This resort is a perfect add-on to a Walt Disney World vacation. The resort shares space with the nesting grounds of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle. The Florida coast is their primary nesting area in the northern hemisphere. When you need a break from the beach you can unwind with a visit to the spa and treat yourself to a full menu of rejuvenating massages and eco-friendly treatments.
Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa
If you have the opportunity to go to the Hawaiian island of Oahu, Aulani is a must! Walt Disney Imagineers worked hand in hand with local artisans and cultural experts to create Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. Inspired by the natural wonders and rich traditions of Hawaii, Aulani Resort is the ultimate family getaway—celebrating the beauty, history, and welcoming spirit of the island. Aulani Resort is perfectly positioned on the beautiful beaches of Ko Olina on the leeward coast of Oahu. The Resort sits on 21 oceanfront acres, nestled between verdant mountains and serene ocean waters. Here, you’ll be removed from the crowds of Waikiki, yet close enough to enjoy the wonders of the island.
Splash out at the sprawling Waikolohe Valley pool area, the destination for aquatic family fun. Hurtle down water slides, float along a lazy river, snorkel in a private lagoon, or simply admire the view from a romantic infinity-edge pool. With interactive play areas, a quiet pool, and more, this imaginative oasis offers sun-soaked fun and relaxation for all ages. Or, have fun swimming and boogie-boarding or rent snorkels, paddleboards, or other equipment to enjoy an ocean adventure. You can also just relax, soaking up the sun and savoring gentle ocean breezes. With its sparkling waters, inviting sand, and paved trail, this sensational beach offers recreational opportunities for the whole family. When evening comes, you can enjoy one of the resort’s restaurants, movies under the stars, a luau, or listen to Hawaiian folklore stories around the fire pit.
These resorts offer the experience Disney is known for with a variety of activities for the entire family.
